I am currently studying in the US on an F visa and have managed to loose my passport a couple of months ago. The passport itself is replaced but I hesitated to renew the I-94 since it takes longer time than my duration of status and it is cheaper to just leave the country and send a mail to USCIS later with proof of departure.
To the problem, I am changing status from F to A. Since the interview is not required I was able to obtain the new visa through mail. Now, I am currently in the US with a valid new visa but no I-94 which means I will be out of status two months after my F visa expires. Being close to the Mexican border my plan is to cross it and come back on the same day to officially get the A status and a new I-94. I will of course send photocopies of all the papers and stamps to USCIS to not fall out of status on the previous visa. Are there any legal problems doing this?

Yes, I have received receipts for 485, EAD and AP for me and my family on 10/3.My case was filed on Aug 14th, received by NSC on aug 15th, Receipt Notice Sept 26th.

I have been in the US for a couple of years working on an E-1 Visa. I am now filing my I-765 because my Visa is tied to me working for a particular company and is not transferable. I have a social security card.
I am now not sure if I should fill this out as if I am applying for a or b:
A) Permission to accept employment
B) Replacement (of lost employment authorization document)
C) Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach previous employment authorization document). Form I-76
If it is C, should I attach a copy of my E-1 Visa and my Social Security card or something else?
Also, for question 11 (Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS)? I don't think I have. I think my E-1 Visa came with this right and that I only dealt with the social security office.
Please help if you know the answer

but as far as the AD is concerned, an AD is for a position not for a person, if 1 AD satisfy the skill set and available position then one AD can work for multiple positions.

We are having same problem, received I-539 copy and it is showing class type H1b for my wife, and it is supposed to be H4.

The storyline continues. Last year, 13,500 regular H-1B applications were counted in the first week and 5,600 advanced degree applications. This year 5,900 regular applications were received in the first week and 4,500 advanced degree petitions. USCIS just reported that in the second week of counting, 7,100 regular cases were receipted and 5,100 advanced degree applications. Well seems like today both sides are going to blame each other for not having a bill today. Big question is - does discussions/negotiations re-start after the recess or is this issue pretty much dead. Most probably they will announce that they will re-start the discussion after vacation and provide the "most important legislation"...blabla... But what are the chances really? especially with new scandals beginning to take all the headlines. This is really frustrating and unfortunate. Lets see how the day goes.
