Absulutely agree. Also $144,000 in some areas translate to $90,000 in some other areas depending on cost of living, taxation etc... Not all spouses work. So for them, every bit of Government stimulus is needed.

The article suggests that people in the namecheck hole were granted GC's which is WRONG. Most are still languishing with no reprive.
When they say 25k or 60k GCs were approved, i am sure they would have stuck to the per country caps and the security clearance.

Finally spoke to my congressman's Immigration contact in Bucks County PA.
He sounded supportive and said he will investigate the matter. I am going to call my state senators Sen Specter and Sen Casey's office as well.

Not correct. Please refer to visa bulletin. It has changed many times in last 10 years. In fact, last year it was current for EB-3. Again, please state facts only.

The greatness of USCIS is unbelievable!!!!!
When the dates move ahead, to say 2006, the 485s that get approved the most are for people whose PDs are in 2006. The 2004-2005 folks just have to keep starring!!! Then all of a sudden dates fall back to 2003...now only god knows who is yet to be approved in EB2-India before April 2003.
So what it seems like is when the dates move ahead drastically all the people who most recently applied will get approved and for the people who are stuck in backlog will see approvals only if the dates stick around their dates for atleast over a year....until then USCIS doesn't even realize that oh these people are still in queue and we need to approve them!!!
Such a BS to deal with all because of USCIS' GRACE!!!!

If "you" meant me then FYI, I have contributed before and will be contributing again. I am no sencond thoughts on what IV core memebers are trying to achive and why they need money. I completely understand the need.
What am I saying is IV has done everything for Lame Duck session to try and get the bill passed. More money then would not have helped is what I think. Yes we could do better from the lessons we learnt from that day. We definetly need money for all this purpose. Most of the members here understand that and want to contribute too but you cannot expect everyone to be in a position to contribute due to various factors.
But you should not say that you are spending a lot of money on lawyers but members pay lawyers as there is no alternative. You would not be a part of IV if your GC is not filed and affected by retrogression. To get to being retrogressed you should pay the lawyers as without labor and i-140 you are not there yet.
Senator sessions was the key due to the lame duck session rules but going forward as i understand a majority can pass the bill..not ever one need to vote for the bill.
Money would help core do activities like setting up the web site, faxes, going to DC, educating law makers...nothing comes free in this world.
I am sure core team would like to post the account details on this web site and be done with it. And may be list down the number of hours and money they have spent from their personal accounts too. But there are some issues with that. We can always call them up for details if that is what is holding you from contributing. Its only a phone call away.

Just a thought that there are other anti immigrant groups also visiting our website. We are frustrated and angry but all these comments that we are writing are also read by other people and will be used against us to make things harder. Also the general feeling is that American people dont really care or want to understand about GC. For them especially groups like NumberUSA etc want us out. So please stop feeding ideas into people's head without knowing facts. Assumptions are not facts.

I talked to my lawyer and she didn't mention about any kind of delay so can you please give me some more details about this PIM and how does it affect the whole process and slow things down.

scorion PIM process is a new additional step that is now part of visa stamping process. if you read around here you will find out more about it but in short uscis office in kentucy has to scan and upload all your supporting documents i.e employement letter etc that you might have used to get an H1 approval. The embassy you will visit for visa stamping has to review all the uploaded doc's before stamping your visa. Now I read in one of the thread here that someone in chennai has been stuck for over 3 to 4 weeks after their visa intvw just because the PIM process is not done. Hope this helps. Just remember.. if we are not united, we ain't getting nothing. Lets work on Recapture of wasted numbers. Thats the only inflow we can rely on. We don't have to wait for their charity every month in the name of left over numbers or spill over numbers. We want our legal GCs. We worked hard to earn it. Not true. Whatever they can outsource, its already gone. There are certain position where the clients demand onsite resource. I am not supporting this bill in anyway, I hate infy as much as I hate this bill. Remember these companies did not leave any stone unturned, milked the client every possible way and expoilted the employees to the maximum extent. In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.
This was a practice only done by TCS a few years ago. And even that has stopped now (albeit because of a lawsuit filed by some employees)

Makes the US salary seem meaningless in comparison(comparing quality of life here and not just money). I am not convinced about this. Actually infrastructure setup in US is way beyond what we can expect in India. That adds to quality of life to great extent.

- tricked and lured by start-up in silicon valley. Abandoned everything and came to California in Jan, 2000 made the deadly mistake of not taking the copy of approved I-140 (I still slap myself every morning for that mistake ;) )
- Found out they have only one customer
- Founder wasted own 20 Million dollars but never increased the tally for the customer from 1
- "Startup" went under in 2002.
- Joined new company (the only customer of start-up) and filed labor in March, 2003 and enjoying every minute of it... :)

I will contribute to IV generously(monetory and otherwise) if you help us with the prefiling of EAD for approved 140's, atleast USCIS will get money from us every year and it helps us too.
We dont mind standing last in the queue for another 10 years as long as we have EAD.
